Bladensburg

Let me begin by stating that my Garmin is a constant source of aggrivation. But in it's defense the City of Bladensburg, MD should put a sign on the main road indicating that its Battle of Bladensburg (War of 1812) Museum is located in a city park...at least make that known on their website. Anyways, it ended up being closed though it was suppose to be open. See pic of cannon because that's all I got out of that effort. I did find the "George Washington House" so named because ole george stayed there one night. It is most often misnamed the Indian Tavern, but that structure actually stood next door in what is now a parking lot. Not happy with Bladensburg I went to the state archives in Annapolis. Found nothing new on James Veazey (Mom's side) but did find that there seems to be a lot on Kerby's in Maryland. So I will have to look into that in the future.

Air & Space Museum

Decided to go down to the Air & Space Museum on the National Mall today. It is nice that ou don't have to pay for parking at the Metro stations on the weekend but I am pretty sure the Metro tickets have undergone at least one price increase. I am also pretty sure that there is never a time of year that the Smithsonian museums don't have crowds. Wish the family was here as it would have been more fun going down there.

I moved to the Basement

I decided to move to the basement which allows me more room and a private bathroom. Landlord said she wasn't going to charge me any more which made me happy. I just need to figure out a solution to there not being a door.

Bowie

I am living in Bowie, MD. I went and saw a few of the historical places in the area on Saturday
. Unfortunately the lady running the house didn't want to open on time so I didn't get to go inside. There are also associated stables from when Bowie was known for horse racing but I didn't get to see those either.

The Commute

Where I am living the commute really isn't bad...which is a good thing because it would be a pain to get to the metro and utilize that. Most of commute is on US-50 and the portion on I-295 is relatively short. It can be slow at times but not crawling like the rest of the Beltway. The traffic remains heavy but not bumper to bumper.

"Home" Away From Home

So I went with the rent a room option as opposed to the rent my own apartment option. Yep, saved a lot of $. Anyways, here are some before pictures. I didn't snap a shot of back yard because I was too lazy to open back sliding door and go outside. Anyways it is small, fenced, and has patio and grass. Once I get my room straight I'll take some pictures of the "after." Right now I am only going to be sharing the place with one other guy who will only be staying here Tuesdays through Saturdays.
